FAQs

Natural gas is a cleaner, more environmentally friendly source of energy. Compared to diesel, natural gas emits 25% less carbon dioxide (CO2). Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas that traps heat in our atmosphere and contributes to global warming.

Natural gas also eliminates a number of harmful air pollutants including nitrogen oxide (NOx), sulfur dioxide (SO2), lead (Pb), carbon monoxide (CO), and fine particles (PM2.5). These air pollutants are now known to contribute to diseases of the lungs and heart. In addition, Natural gas is more economically friendly and can cost up to 60% less than diesel.

Natural gas is cleaner than propane. The combustion of propane releases a higher content of carbon dioxide (CO2), which is a greenhouse gas (GHGs), than the combustion of methane. In addition, the use of propane involves the possibility of emitting nitrogen oxide (NOx) or non-methane hydrocarbons (NMHC) and carbon monoxide (CO), which are harmful air pollutants. Natural gas is also up to 40% less costly than propane. For many of the same reasons natural gas is preferred over diesel, natural gas is preferred over propane.

LNG contains 600 times more energy in the same amount of space as compared to natural gas. CNG contains approximately 60 times more energy. This makes LNG more efficient by volume and reduces the number of trucks on the road to transport the same amount of gas. Additionally, LNG is transported safely at low pressure and is easier and more economical to store.

Actually, yes, 3-5% methane leaks into the air when using traditional gas pipelines.
Edge’s mobile solution, which liquefies gas right at the wellhead, eliminates traditional gas pipelines and therefore removes any methane leaks related to them.

Our LNG storage containers are designed and built under international standards and are DOT approved. We follow and are in compliance with federal, state and local requirements. All drivers are Hazmat approved, and the technology we utilize is equipped with state-of-the-art safety measures and remote monitoring.

Extremely safe. LNG is not flammable due to its liquid state. A burning cigarette can be extinguished in LNG! Additionally, LNG is transported at low pressure and will not mix with water or soil if spilled. Instead, it evaporates and dissipates into the air leaving no residues or emissions.

In one word: Safe.

In addition to the properties described above, all Edge LNG containers are double-walled and equipped with state-of-the-art safety measures and telemetry, so the condition of the LNG is always known in real time.

A typical LNG delivery site includes a regasification station and two 10,000-gallon LNG storage containers. The approximate space required is 2,600 sqft, or 65 ft (W) x 40 ft (L). Its modular configuration fits in reduced footprints and is ready to scale up per your needs. The entire setup is mobile, modular, and plug-and-play.

We provide a turnkey solution, which includes 24/7 online support to keep a seamless supply of LNG, as well as operation and maintenance of the fueling and regasification equipment.

Yes, we provide vaporizers that transfer the LNG back to natural gas for consumption at different rates. Our turnkey solutions combine high-quality, continuous LNG supply, storage, regasification and pressure regulation, depending on your needs.

Absolutely not. After experiencing Edge LNG’s savings and service we don’t think you’ll be switching back to dirtier fossil fuels anytime soon. However, feel free to keep your existing equipment as a backup and/or alternative.

Depending on the type of engine or boiler, adjustments may be required. Edge urges everyone to speak with their engine provider or a professional that handles fuel conversions. While Edge does work directly with engine providers to make sure our LNG burns properly, Edge does not perform engine or boiler conversions. We focus our efforts on providing you with a reliable, competitive, and clean fuel source in LNG.

Approximately 45 days. All our ISO LNG containers are equipped with telemetry that informs us in real time about the volume, pressure, and temperature of the LNG. We will be the first to know if the LNG has been in storage for too long, and will make sure you have a container of fresh LNG delivered to replace it.

Edge LNG operates with redundancies built-in, so that you can always rely on us for your supply. This includes multiple supply and liquefaction locations that help hedge against any temporary supply or equipment issues with any single location. Our 24/7 online support also enables us to keep a seamless supply of LNG available. We’re proud to say that since our inception, we have fulfilled all contract volumes at 100%. We understand that reliability is very important to our clients, which is why we take all the proper precautions to ensure that we fulfill our commitments.

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates that as of January 1, 2019, the United States had about 475 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of proved reserves and 2,392 Tcf of unproved reserves of dry natural gas. Assuming the same annual rate of U.S. dry natural gas production in 2019 of nearly 34 Tcf, the United States has enough dry natural gas to last about 84 years.

Gas content is tested originally at the supply site prior to the liquefaction process. We then also test monthly samples of the LNG as ongoing quality control to ensure the gas content and MMBtu levels are consistent with supply and meet both our and our customers’ high standards.

No, consuming our LNG does not qualify your business for LCFS credits, however, it can be considered as the first step in your energy transition towards carbon negative emissions. Consuming LNG creates a seamless transition to consuming liquified RNG or renewable natural gas, which is LCFS eligible.
